What We Do
QCNL/CWNL partners with health care providers, researchers, analysts, policy makers and program managers to conduct research on a range of topics across many disciplines related to the provision of health care in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Our research combines readily-available best practices with Newfoundland and Labrador-specific data and analysis to ensure “home grown” solutions. QCNL/CWNL provides physicians and nurse practitioners with up-to-date information on best practices, data on their own practice behaviours to encourage practice change, and tools to help start conversations between patients and providers about the best options for care. Our messaging is patient-centred, and varies from reducing low value health care where harms outweigh benefits, to increasing more appropriate care to ensure better health outcomes.
QCNL/CWNL also develops messaging for the general public to empower patients to become more active decision makers in their own health care.
By providing education and raising awareness among both health care providers and patients, QCNL/CWNL encourages and supports a collaborative, evidence-based, patient-centred decision making process about treatment.
